Douglas, GA (February 13, 2020) – On Monday, police confirmed that a car crash on the Willacoochee Highway in Douglas led to the fatality of one victim.
The car accident took place in front of the local EnMarket. Though the exact circumstances leading up to the accident are not yet known, it is believed that a passenger vehicle and a Douglas police officer in a patrol cruiser were involved.
The victim was identified as a 30-year-old man from the passenger vehicle, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer involved in the collision was allegedly responding to a local emergency at a gas station. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
