Duluth, GA (November 8, 2019) – On Thursday, November 7 on I-85, police responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Duluth that took the life of one man.
The 56-year-old man from Buford was killed around 4:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate. Police claim that he had exited a vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder and was not working correctly. He started walking across multiple lanes of traffic.
When the pedestrian entered the third lane of traffic, a Toyota RAV4 struck him. He died at the scene of the collision due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police are unsure why the pedestrian entered the roadway.
Traffic was impacted for several hours. Police continue their investigation of the accident at this time.
