Albany, GA – Police confirmed that a child was injured in a pedestrian accident on Weymouth Drive in Albany while the child was exiting a bus.
The student was identified as a 15-year-old from the Westover High School. He was struck when he got off the bus in front of his home around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon, January 13.
The bus was allegedly fully stopped and its sign was out with lights flashing. A car was approaching the bus in the opposite lane and didn’t stop for the bus.
The child was taken to the hospital for evaluation for head and neck injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was charged with reckless driving, distracted driving, and failing to stop for a school bus.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
