Athens, GA (May 3, 2021) – Around 11:34 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, May 2, a car accident happened at an intersection in Athens.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of College Station Road and Mark Twain Circle. Two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, which led to extensive damages.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The two drivers were injured in the accident and hospitalized. One had a chest-related injury and the other had a back injury. Their conditions are not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
