Athens, GA – Car Accident at Lumpkin St and Baxter St Intersection

Athens, GA (August 14, 2020) – Last afternoon, August 13, one person was injured in a car accident at an intersection in Athens.

According to police with the University of Georgia Police Department, the crash happened at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Lumpkin Street and Baxter Street. Two vehicles allegedly collided after entering the intersection at the same time. This led to extensive damages to the vehicles involved.

Fire crews and paramedics were also dispatched to assist at the scene of the accident. One of the drivers, whose name has not yet been released, was injured as a result of the accident. They received abrasions and a head injury as a result of the accident but they are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for a period of time but police quickly cleared the roadway.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing at this time.
