Atlanta, GA – Wrong-Way Accident Kills One in EB Lanes of I-20
Atlanta, GA (February 4, 2023) – At 6 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, February 4, a wrong-way driver caused an accident in Atlanta that took the life of one person.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the early morning hours in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Boulevard. Police confirmed that a wrong-way driver was traveling in the area when they crashed into another vehicle head-on due to reasons that are not yet known. A white sedan and a black van sustained front-end damage as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to traumatic injuries. Several emergency vehicles were present in the area and EMS crews were found assisting injured parties. None of their conditions are known at this time.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. This led to delays until police cleared the scene.
