Austell, GA (May 22, 2020) – Around 5:30 p.m. this evening, police responded to a serious head-on collision with injuries in Austell.
The accident took place in the westbound lanes of GA-5 around the area of Maxham Road and involved two vehicles, identified as a white SUV and a white van.
Though few details are known, it is believed that one of the vehicles traveled into the opposite lane of traffic for unknown reasons, striking the other head-on. There was severe damage to both vehicles involved in the accident.
Numerous emergency responders were present at the scene of the collision. Paramedics confirmed that one or more victims were hospitalized with injuries, though it is not known how severe the injuries were.
The westbound lanes of traffic were blocked until police were able to clear the debris from the roadway.
No further details are known at this time. Police continue their investigation.
