Austell, GA (August 1, 2020) – Around 1:46 p.m. this afternoon, Cobb County officials responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle collision on an Austell highway.
The accident, according to police, took place in the eastbound lanes of GA-402 around the area of Riverside Parkway. Police confirmed that the accident was a chain-reaction collision that led to extensive damages to the vehicles involved.
An assortment of fire trucks and EMS vehicles were present at the scene of the accident so that responders could assist those with injuries. The extent of the injuries is not yet known, though it is believed that one or more victims were hospitalized.
The accident closed down multiple lanes of traffic. The crash took place in the right lane. Police urged those in the area to use Highway 78 as an alternate route.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
