Canton, GA (May 13, 2019) – Cherokee County emergency responders arrived at the scene of a truck accident on I-575 that led to injuries in three people around 12:45 p.m. The accident took place when a truck flipped over on the bridge of the highway, which caused logs to drop below onto north and southbound lanes.
The logs fell onto a Honda Fit, which was badly damaged due to the fall. The vehicle had been traveling southbound at the time. Police confirmed that the parties inside the Fit, a male driver and two female passengers, were injured and taken to a local hospital but they are expected to be okay.
Firefighters stated that the truck was on fire when they arrived at the scene, but the driver was not injured.
The accident closed down the roadway for approximately an hour until it was reopened. At this time, the accident remains under a full investigation.
