Cartersville, GA (February 22, 2021) – Around 10:30 p.m. on the night of Monday, February 22, a serious car crash took place following a chase in Cartersville.
According to Bartow County officials, the accident took place on North Gilmer Street near the area of Montgomery Street. Police were pursuing a driver when the driver lost control of his vehicle on North Gilmer. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole, a parked vehicle, and a house before it came to a rest. The vehicle was badly damaged due to the accident.
Emergency responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. Fire crews had to extricate the parties from the damaged vehicle. A female passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured due to the accident and had to be airlifted by a medical helicopter to a local hospital.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time until police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
