Clayton, GA – Two Killed in Head-on Collision on Long Creek Hwy

7/20 Duluth, GA – Car Accident on I-85 Near Boggs Rd Leads to Injuries

Clayton, GA (September 28, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal head-on collision that took place on a Clayton highway on Wednesday afternoon, September 28.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 3:14 p.m. on Long Creek Highway just over the Georgia state line coming from South Carolina. Police confirmed that a passenger vehicle was traveling west on the highway when the driver’s vehicle suddenly collided head-on with a pickup truck. The vehicles involved in the accident were left with extensive damage due to the collision.

Several local responders, including paramedics and Clayton fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, as well as the passenger, sustained severe trauma and were both pronounced dead at the scene. Those inside the pickup truck were taken to local hospitals by medical helicopter but are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing at this time.

We offer our warmest condolences to the families and friends of the victims involved in this accident. We also hope that the injured parties will receive a full recovery.
