Covington, GA (June 30, 2020) – Around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, a woman was killed in a fatal collision that took place at a Covington intersection.
The accident took place at the intersection of Dixie Road and County Road 213. The driver of a Chevrolet Cruze and the driver of a Ford F-150 approached the intersection at the same time.
According to the Georgia Highway Patrol, the driver of the F-150, identified as a 55-year-old man, stopped at the stop sign while the 77-year-old female driver of the Cruze went through the intersection.
The Cruze slammed into the driver’s side door of the pickup truck. The Cruze then ran into a metal fence post while the pickup truck ran into a large rock off the side of the road.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The extent of the injuries sustained by the truck driver has not yet been confirmed.
Charges are pending against the other driver at this time. Police continue their investigation into the accident.
