Cumming, GA – Man Injured in Workplace Fire at Distillery on US-19

Cumming, GA (January 13, 2021) – On Tuesday morning, January 12, a man was injured in a fire and explosion that took place at a distillery in Cumming.

According to the Forsyth County Fire Department, the incident took place at the NoFo Brew Company & Distillery on US-19. An explosion took place in the brewery portion of the business for reasons that are not yet known.

After the fire broke out, police confirmed that an employee extinguished the fire using a chemical fire extinguisher. The employee who tried to put out the fire suffered from second-degree burns to over 50% of his body and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries.

The building was closed down for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the building did not suffer any major damage.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues at this time.
