Decatur, GA (August 22, 2020) – Early this morning during rainy conditions, a car accident with injuries happened on a major highway in Decatur.
According to authorities, the accident took place around 2:56 a.m. when multiple vehicles collided with one another for unknown reasons. The crash took place in the eastbound lanes of the Ralph David Abernathy Freeway around the area of Columbia Drive. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were active at the scene of the accident. They assisted those with injuries, though it is not yet known how many were injured as a result.
Police blocked off three lanes as a result of the accident so that they could work to clear the scene. They urged drivers traveling through to use Glenwood Avenue as an alternate route.
