Duluth, GA (November 7, 2019) – Early this morning, authorities responded to the scene of a serious and fatal pedestrian accident on GA-403, also known as I-85.
The accident involved several vehicles, which were seen being towed from the scene of the accident. The collision closed down all southbound lanes of the highway for over three hours. The lanes reopened around 7:40 a.m.
When the delays were at their worst, there were approximately seven miles of bumper-to-bumper backups with the highway becoming a parking lot.
The name and identity of the pedestrian is not known. Police investigations continue at this time.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
In the first half of 2018, over 133 pedestrians were killed on Georgia roadways due to the negligence of others. Pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable parties on our roads who are susceptible to some of the worst harm. If a pedestrian is not being catastrophically injured, they could easily lose their lives at the hands of negligent parties who are not paying close attention to the road in front of them. Surviving family members should always speak with a skilled wrongful death attorney during these challenging times.
