Elberton, GA – Fatal School Bus Accident Involving Vehicle on GA-368
Elberton, GA (June 30, 2021) – On Wednesday morning, June 30, a fatal school bus accident occurred on a major roadway in Elberton.
According to Georgia Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-368. A Honda Accord was traveling east in the area when it attempted to make a left turn, colliding with a school bus. The front of the bus struck the side of the Honda. The Honda came to a rest and caught on fire, becoming completely engulfed in flames.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Honda, identified as a 24-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four students and the bus driver were injured and taken to Elbert Memorial Hospital. They are all expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
