Gainesville, GA – Five Injured in Car Crash at Mt Vernon Rd & Buckhorn Rd

Gainesville, GA (February 16, 2023) – Five people sustained injuries in a serious car accident that took place in Gainesville on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 14.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Buckhorn Road. Police confirmed that a 35-year-old woman was driving her Chevrolet Traverse on Mount Vernon and attempting to make a left turn. Her vehicle suddenly collided with a Toyota Highlander that was being driven by a 35-year-old woman traveling south. The Chevrolet overturned onto its side, leading to severe damage.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local Gainesville responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Police confirmed that a 7-year-old inside the Chevrolet was severely injured and had to be transported to a local hospital by medical helicopter. Her mother, who was driving, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Three passengers inside the Toyota were also injured but are expected to be okay. They were identified as a 12-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, and an infant.

Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the road was blocked in the area. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.

No further details have been released, but the investigation into the collision continues.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the parties who have been hurt as a result of this accident.
