Gwinnett County, GA (June 4, 2019) – A Marysville man died after his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck along Interstate 85 South last Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Police have identified the deceased motorcyclist as 25-year-old Eduard Onufriychuk, a resident of Marysville.
Based on a report from a Gwinnett County Police Corporal, a 911 caller informed police dispatchers that a motorcycle, semi-truck, and SUV had been involved in a crash along I-85, in the vicinity of the Highway 22 and Hamilton Mill Road exits. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they discovered the motorcyclist had been ejected from his bike and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Additional investigation work proved that Onufriychuk and a passenger had been riding the bike northbound along the southbound shoulder of I-85 when, at one point, he corrected course to avoid a parked Nissan Altima. In his attempt to avoid the car, Onufriychuk swerved into the path of an oncoming semi. Before impact, his passenger jumped off the bike and only sustained moderate injuries.
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Eduard Onufriychuk during this difficult time.
