LaGrange, GA (October 28, 2020) – Around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, October 28, two children were killed in a fatal fire in a LaGrange home.
The incident, according to police, took place when a mobile home caught fire on Cherry Valley Lane for reasons that are not yet known. The 40-year-old father of the victims woke up in the morning and smelled smoke in the home. He woke up his wife and they both tried to rescue their two children. However, the flames were so severe that they were unable to reach them.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene to find that the mobile home was completely engulfed in flames. They have since determined that the fire was accidental.
The two victims who lost their lives in the fire were identified as a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy. Their mother was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
