Lexington, GA – Update: Identity Released After Fatal Crane Accident on Allgood Road

Lexington, GA (May 15, 2019) – Around 11:30 a.m. on Allgood Road on Monday, authorities were called to the scene of a fatal crane accident after a crane fell on top of a worker. The accident took place at Millstone Granite Quarry in Oglethorpe County and deputies in the area were called to the scene.

Upon investigation, police have confirmed that the person killed in the accident was a 58-year-old man who worked for the company. He was the crane’s operator.

According to police, the crane fell off of a ledge and into the quarry. The 58-year-old allegedly died at the scene of the accident.

No other injuries were reported but police say that a thorough investigation continues to take place at this time.
