Marietta, GA – Fatal Bicycle Accident at Smyrna Powder Springs Rd

Marietta, GA (February 14, 2020) – Around 5:42 p.m. on the evening of February 10, a fatal bicycle accident took place at an intersection in Marietta.

Police confirmed that a 15-year-old was struck on Smyrna Powder Springs Road headed across the street onto Neese Drive.

The 15-year-old was headed eastbound on a sidewalk when he attempted to cross the street and was struck by a 2008 Ford Explorer headed eastbound.

The driver of the Ford stayed at the scene of the accident and was not injured. She has since been identified as a 20-year-old from Marietta.

Police confirmed that it was getting dark and it was raining heavily at the time.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
