Marietta, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Leader Rd

Marietta, GA (September 17, 2020) – Around 5:24 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 17, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident in Marietta.

According to investigators, a 2020 Tesla was traveling north on South Cobb Drive. The driver lost control on the wet roadway, causing the vehicle to spin and leave the roadway where it traveled across the sidewalk. The vehicle then struck a Cobb Transit Service bus shelter and a male who was waiting inside the shelter.

After striking the pedestrian, the Tesla traveled down a grass embankment and came to a rest. The driver of the Tesla was identified as a 37-year-old man from Austell. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The male inside the service shelter, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.
