Marietta, GA – One Killed in Fatal Car Accident in NB Lanes of I-75
Marietta, GA (July 21, 2021) – At 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 21, a fatal car accident occurred on a highway in Marietta.
According to Cobb County Police, the accident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of Delk Road and the South Marietta Parkway. A Chevrolet van was headed northbound when the driver’s tire went flat. The van slowed down as the driver tried to exit the roadway when it was suddenly struck from behind by a Ford F-150. The Ford was then struck from behind by a Scion. This led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Toyota, who has only been identified as a male, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there. The driver of the Ford and four other passengers of vehicles were hospitalized with injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.
Police confirmed that the driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot. The police did not say if they found the driver.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
