Marietta, GA (April 14, 2019) – Marietta Police were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash that took place at the intersection of Atlanta Street and Old Clay Street and took one life. Now, police have identified the man who was killed in the accident.
Police say that a 52-year-old man of Marietta had been driving his 2010 Kawasaki north on Atlanta around 6 p.m. at the same time as a 40-year-old woman in her 2011 Infiniti.
The woman was stopped at the stop sign for Old Clay Street trying to turn left onto Atlanta. She started to turn, which is when she found herself directly into the male driver’s path. This caused the motorcycle to strike the side of the Infiniti. The man was thrown from his bike and died at the scene of the accident.
The woman was injured and taken to the hospital but she is expected to survive.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Our sincere condolences are extended to the family and friends of the victim at this time. We hope that they are able to find peace and comfort.
Motorcycle Accidents in Georgia
Approximately 126 motorcyclists were killed in life-changing accidents across Georgia in 2017 alone. Thousands more would be hospitalized with serious injuries, leaving family members and individuals in difficult positions every single year. Motorcyclists are some of the most vulnerable parties that exist on our roadways and, as a result, they are most likely to be harmed in motor vehicle accidents. In the event of a fatal motorcycle crash, a family might wonder where to turn.
