McDonough, GA (March 18, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a fatal crash that took place around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday and led to the fatalities of two individuals. The accident happened following a police chase on Interstate 75.
The Georgia State Patrol reported that police had been in a pursuit with a stolen Mazda CX9 on the highway. The stolen vehicle left the interstate and turned around, then entered the highway heading in the opposite direction. The Mazda then struck a 2003 Ford F-150 head-on.
Police reported that one of the vehicles was completely engulfed in flames following the accident and firefighters were called to the scene to help put out the fire.
The driver of the Ford truck tragically passed away at the scene of the accident and the driver of the Mazda also died while being taken to the hospital.
At this time, police have not identified the drivers and the investigation continues.
