Norcross, GA (July 8, 2020) – Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, a driver was killed in a fatal car accident involving a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck in Norcross.
Gwinnett County authorities confirmed that the accident took place on Interstate 85 when a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle collided for unknown reasons on the highway. The truck immediately caught on fire following the collision, causing fire crews to have to extricate the driver.
Both drivers were rushed to the hospital but one of the drivers tragically died from his injuries on the way. Police did not confirm which vehicle the victim was driving.
A police officer was also injured during the rescue efforts and was hospitalized. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
