Norcross, GA (January 25, 2020) – Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, a pedestrian accident involving a police officer took place on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross.
The accident took place when a police officer attempted to stop a male driver in a van from driving away from the parking lot of the Chiquitas Lounge. They believe the man was intoxicated.
The driver backed up his van and drove into the police officer with his driver’s side door. The van then drove forward, running over the officer.
The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect has not been identified but he is facing charges including felony obstruction and aggravated assault.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
