AFTER A PERRY CRASH

The courthouse is right here

Perry is the Houston County seat, so injury cases from all over the county, Warner Robins and Centerville included, are heard at the courthouse on Perry Parkway. If you were hurt in Perry, your case may end up a few minutes from where it happened. That’s one thing that’s simple. Most of the rest isn’t.

Maybe you were rear-ended on Sam Nunn Boulevard, or hit leaving the fairgrounds. Either way, the calls from an adjuster tend to start fast. Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C. handles Perry injury cases from our team in Macon, and we’ve recovered more than $5 billion for over 300,000 clients in 45 years, from 9 offices. There’s zero fee unless we win.

Don’t sign anything an insurance company sends you before a lawyer has read it, however friendly the adjuster sounds.

Where a Perry case is heard

Houston County is its own judicial circuit, the Houston Judicial Circuit, and both the State Court and the Superior Court of Houston County sit at the courthouse at 201 North Perry Parkway. Most local car crash lawsuits are filed in one of those two courts. A case can also be filed where the at-fault driver lives.

CourtWhat it usually handles
State Court of Houston CountyMany car crash and injury lawsuits, with jury trials
Superior Court of Houston CountyInjury lawsuits of any size, plus cases only a superior court can hear
Magistrate CourtSmaller claims, such as damage to your car alone

Because Houston County stands alone as a circuit, none of Macon’s courts or deadlines carry over. If a Robins Air Force Base vehicle was involved, the claim is federal instead, and our page on Robins AFB crash claims explains that path.

Who has your crash report in Perry?

Inside Perry city limits, the Perry Police Department usually writes the report. Copies are picked up in person at the department on Washington Street during weekday business hours, for a processing fee. Outside the city, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office usually has it. The Georgia State Patrol’s Post 15 is based in Perry and works many I-75 crashes.

You don’t have to make the trip to pick it up. Tell us where the crash happened and we’ll get the report. The officer’s diagram and any citations often shape what the insurer offers.

One quirk of the map: I-75 crosses from Peach County into Houston County between the Highway 96 exit and Perry. So a crash at the exits north of there, toward Warner Robins and Byron, may be a Peach County matter, with a different sheriff and a different courthouse. We’ll sort out which one you’re dealing with.

Car and truck crashes in Perry

Perry has several I-75 exits, including Sam Nunn Boulevard, Perry Parkway and Larry Walker Parkway, and a lot of crashes happen where interstate traffic meets town traffic. Sam Nunn Boulevard, a four-lane divided highway, is one of the busiest. Our Perry car wreck attorneys can take the report, the bills and the adjuster off your plate.

The Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter brings huge crowds to town. The 2025 Georgia National Fair drew more than 600,000 visitors over 11 days, and the grounds host hundreds of other events a year. Heavy event traffic, parking lot crashes and people walking along busy roads all come with it. If a driver hit you on foot, our pedestrian injury lawyers can help.

I-75 brings trucks through Perry day and night. If a tractor-trailer hit you, our 18-wheeler injury lawyers move quickly to preserve the truck’s data. And if the other driver was impaired, our DUI crash attorneys can look at every party who may share the blame.

Falls and workplace injuries in Perry

A fall at a store, a hotel or an event venue can be the property owner’s responsibility if they knew about a hazard and left it. Our store fall lawyers will tell you honestly whether you have a case, and it costs nothing to ask.

If you were hurt at work, our workers’ comp attorneys can explain your benefits and whether someone other than your employer is also responsible. If you’re a federal civilian employee at the base, different rules usually apply, and we can walk you through those too. And if a dog bit you or your child, Georgia law looks at what the owner knew and whether the dog was kept under control.

Serious injuries and wrongful death

Emory Hospital Perry has an emergency room, but it isn’t on the state’s trauma center list. People with the most serious injuries are often taken to the Level I trauma center in Macon, and our guide to Macon’s trauma center explains how that works.

When injuries are that serious, the claim has to cover years of care, lost income and the changes to your family’s life. Our traumatic brain injury lawyers work with treating doctors early. If you lost someone, our wrongful-death lawyers will explain who can bring the claim and what it covers.

How long do you have to file a claim in Perry?

Most Georgia injury claims must be filed within two years. If a government was involved, you usually must send written notice first. A City of Perry vehicle generally means six months. Houston County and the State generally mean twelve. A vehicle from Robins Air Force Base follows federal rules, with a written claim within two years.

That written notice is called an ante litem notice, from the Latin for “before the suit.” It’s a letter a government must receive before you can sue it. If it’s late, the claim against that government can be lost.
