Zebulon, GA (March 13, 2023) – On Sunday, March 13, a woman was killed in a fatal car accident that took place at a Zebulon intersection that involved a DUI driver.

According to Pike County officials, the accident happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of GA-109 and Kings Road. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the exact same time. One of the vehicles, identified as a Toyota sedan, went off the side of the road and collided with several trees, ejecting a passenger inside. The other vehicle, identified as a Lincoln Navigator, was badly damaged in the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The passenger inside the Toyota who was ejected, identified as a 31-year-old woman, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lincoln, identified as an adult male, was transported to Spalding Regional Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Police determined that the driver of the Toyota, identified as a 35-year-old man, was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. He received medical treatment and was then charged with driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, driving without a license, and more.

The roadway was blocked off for an extended period of time.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
