As a consolidated city-county, Macon is a thriving tourist hub: the city is home to some of the most sought after attractions in Georgia. Spanning a total of ten days in mid-march, the Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the longest-running and most-loved annual events in the city. This family fun extravaganza seeks to celebrate the blooming of thousands of Yoshino Cherry Trees that are found all over the city. The festival features all kinds of activities and family events including concerts, art, and crafts, funfair, exhibits, parades, food, dances and more. The slogan of this pink themed event is “Eat, Drink, and Be Cherry.”
Being the center of native history in Georgia, Macon hosts one of the largest Native American celebrations in the Southeast-the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration. The festival features hundreds of craftsmen, storytellers, foods, live entertainment, living history demonstrators, dancers, and visitors who have ties to the once-great Ocmulgee territory in Macon. The event attracts thousands of visitors to the city every September and it’s a chance to learn and appreciate the Native American heritage culture through first-hand experience and observation.
This is an annual fundraiser organized and hosted by the Tubman Museum to help support the museum’s operational mission. The festival features an afternoon of nonstop live music, renowned guests, tasty desserts, and a variety of drinks.
For the lovers of craft beer, the Just Tap’d Craft Beer Festival is must attend. Held in downtown Macon, the festival features a vast variety of finely craft beers, live music, food, and fun activities for the kids.
Other notable annual events in the city of Macon include the Mulberry Street Arts & Crafts Festival, Tubman Pan African Festival, Bragg Jam, The Nutcracker of Middle Georgia, The First Night Macon, Central Georgia Greek Festival, Macon Film Festival, Fired Works, Cotton Avenue Revival Festival, Festival of Trees and the Goodwill Gala.
