Carrollton, GA (May 12, 2022) – Two firefighters were injured as a result of a firetruck accident that took place in Carrollton on Thursday morning, May 12.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened in the early morning hours on Clem Lowell Road. A firetruck was traveling in the area when the driver allegedly lost control due to reasons that are not fully known. The firetruck was allegedly on its way to a medical call when the driver lost control, causing it to forcefully crash off the side of the road.

Several local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two firefighters were inside the engine and sustained injuries as a result of the collision. One of the firefighters sustained a fractured leg and was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. The other crew member was rushed to Tanner Medical Center with a head injury. The parties, however, are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes until police were able to fully clear the scene.

The Georgia State Patrol continues its investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
