Cartersville, GA (June 30, 2021) – At 10:41 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 30, a train crash occurred in Cartersville.

According to Cartersville Police, the collision happened at a private crossing near Riverside Drive and State Route 113. A farm vehicle was traveling in the area when it started to cross the railroad tracks. A CSX train was traveling in the area and was unable to stop in time, causing it to slam into the farm vehicle. This led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were called to the scene. An employee who was driving the farm vehicle was severely injured and was transported to the Floyd Medical Center for treatment. Nobody on the train received injuries.

The area was blocked for some time, which led to extensive delays.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
