Macon, GA - Woman Dies, Man Hurt in 4000 Houston Ave House Fire

Macon, GA (November 25, 2021) – Late Thanksgiving evening, November 25, The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 4000 block of Houston Avenue that left a woman dead.

Upon their arrival to the scene, fire officials noted that the house was fully engulfed. The Fire Department was able to keep the fire from spreading to any other houses, however.

Firefighters also rescued several people from the home, including a 49-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, both from Macon.

The victims were transported to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment, though the woman was pronounced dead by Atrium medical staff. The man remains hospitalized and is listed in critical condition.

Officials are not releasing the name of the woman until next-of-kin notifications are complete.

No further details have been released but Bibb County officials continue their investigation into the incident.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with all injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
