Monroe, GA – Dump Truck Accident Leads to Injuries on Unisia Dr
Monroe, GA (December 17, 2021) – On Friday, December 17, a dump truck accident occurred on a major roadway in Monroe.
According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on Unisia Drive around the area of GA-78 and GA-83. A dump truck was traveling north in the area when its tire suddenly blew out. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into the opposite lane of traffic. The dump truck then collided with a passenger vehicle that was traveling south. The two vehicles then went down an embankment, which led to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle that was struck received severe injuries. They were taken to Piedmont Athens for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
