6/3 Atlanta, GA – Multi-Vehicle Collision with Injuries on I-85

Sandy Springs, GA (April 5, 2021) – Around 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, an officer was injured in an accident that took place in Sandy Springs.

At the time, a Sandy Springs Police officer was driving southbound on GA-400 around the area of Windsor Parkway. He was working a traffic stop in the area when his patrol vehicle was suddenly struck by another vehicle in the area. The patrol vehicle has been fully visible on the shoulder of the road at the time of the crash.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to assist. The officer, who has not yet been fully identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser was arrested on charges of DUI, open container, reckless driving, and more.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
