6/12 Riverdale, GA – Fatal Collision at Jonesboro Rd & Old National Hwy

Claxton, GA (April 9, 2021) – Around 6:45 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, April 8, a man was killed in a boat accident in Claxton.

The Evan’s County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the accident happened on the Canoochee River around the area of the Rocks River Landing. A boat with three fishermen inside it overturned around the area of the landing for reasons that are not yet known.

When the Georgia Department of Natural Resources arrived at the scene, they found two of the fishermen. The third, identified as a 61-year-old man, was later found and seriously injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was blocked off for some time while police continued their investigation.
