Decatur, GA (April 29, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, April 29, a fatal two-car accident happened on a highway in Decatur.

According to police, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 around the area of Candler Road. Two vehicles allegedly collided with each other due to unknown reasons, which led to extensive damages. One or more of the vehicles caught on fire.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One person, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not yet known if any other parties were injured as a result of the accident.

All eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
