Decatur, GA – DeKalb Officials Report Injury Car Wreck on I-285 at Memorial Dr
Decatur, GA (May 26, 2021) – Around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 26, a serious car accident with injuries occurred on a highway in Decatur.
DeKalb County officials confirmed that the accident took place in the northbound lanes of I-285 around the area of Memorial Drive. Multiple vehicles collided in the area, though the events leading up to the accident are not yet known.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Local EMTs did not release additional information related to the number of victims or their current conditions.
Due to the severity of the accident, all lanes in the area were blocked for more than an hour. Officers with the DeKalb County Police Department were conducting their investigation and collecting evidence but they have not released further details at this time.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
