Macon, GA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Hawkinsville Rd
Macon, GA (May 30, 2021) – At 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred on a roadway in Macon.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened at 5500 Hawkinsville Road. A male pedestrian was walking in the far right lane possibly trying to cross the street when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver, who remained at the scene, claims that they did not see the man until it was too late.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
