6/15 Summerville, GA – Rollover Accident Leads to Injuries on York Rd

Forsyth Co, GA (May 31, 2021) – Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said that two were killed in a wrong-way crash early Sunday morning, May 30.

The fiery crash occurred when a man drove over 100 mph in the wrong direction on Georgia 400 around 1:30 a.m. and struck another car. FCSO deputies said the wreck happened between Shiloh Road and Majors Road. Initial reports state that 911 dispatch received several calls about the wrong-way driver, though police weren’t able to intercept the driver before the collision.

Deputies said the 35-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a black Alfa Romeo Stelvio and was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. The man then hit a silver Lexus IS250 driven by a 22-year-old male. Both cars burst into flames, closing the highway for several hours.

The Lexus driver died at the scene, and the wrong-way driver’s current condition is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
