Rockledge, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Car Accident on I-16
Rockledge, GA (August 17, 2021) – On Sunday night, August 15, a woman was killed in a fatal car accident on a highway in Rockledge.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-16 around the area of Georgia Highway 26. The accident occurred when a Toyota Camry was traveling in the area and slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Suburban due to unknown reasons. The Suburban was struck so forcefully that it went off the side of the road and into the woods nearby. This led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. An 88-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known what vehicle she was in.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
