Athens, GA (August 20, 2021) – At 2:42 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, August 19, a car accident with injuries happened in Athens.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened on East Campus Road near the College Station Road area. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided due to reasons that are not fully known. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The drivers of both vehicles were injured as a result of the accident. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
