Norwood, GA – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-20
Norwood, GA (August 20, 2021) – At 2:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, August 19, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Norwood.
According to police, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of mile marker 154. The crash happened in a rural part of the interstate. A man driving a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer lost a tool out of the back of the trailer. He pulled off the side of the road and got out of his vehicle to retrieve the tool. He was struck by a vehicle traveling in the area that did not see him in time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 39-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The westbound lanes of traffic were blocked for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
