Clarkston, GA – Tractor-Trailer Accident with Serious Injuries on I-285
Clarkston, GA (September 21, 2021) – At 3:48 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 21, a tractor-trailer accident with injuries occurred in Clarkston.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-285 around the area of East Ponce De Leon Avenue and Exit 40. A tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided due to reasons that are not yet known. This led to extensive damages to the involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not known at this time but it is believed that the victims were taken by medical helicopters.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time due to the severity of the crash. Police urged those in the area to use I-75 as an alternate route.
