Atlanta, GA (October 5, 2021) – At 4:05 p.m. on Monday afternoon, October 4, a woman was injured in an accident on a bridge in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-85 around the area of Plasters Avenue. A driver was in a Chevrolet Camaro on the bridge and was traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver struck a Kia Optima also traveling in the area. The driver of the Optima lost control of their vehicle, striking a Chevrolet Cruz that was broken down on the side of the road.

Police confirmed that the Chevrolet Cruz was pushed over the side of the bridge. The vehicle landed on Plasters Avenue underneath. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Cruz, identified only as an adult female, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It is not known if anybody else was hurt in the crash.

The driver of the Camaro that caused the accident received numerous charges. These include reckless driving, failing to maintain their lane, serious injury by motor vehicle, and more.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
