Smyrna, GA (October 9, 2021) – At 8:05 p.m. on the night of Friday, October 8, a multi-vehicle crash with injuries occurred in Smyrna.

According to Cobb County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-285 around the area of exit 16, South Atlanta Road. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the southbound lanes of traffic when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.

Due to the severity of the crash, multiple right lanes of traffic were blocked for a period of time. Police urged those in the area to use I-75 as an alternate route.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
