Athens, GA (October 12, 2021) – At 9:58 a.m. on the morning of Friday, October 8, a car accident with injuries occurred in Athens.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the collision happened on Brooks Drive at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not fully known. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One driver, who has not yet been formally identified, was injured in the collision. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
