Clarkesville, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Rollover Accident on GA-17
Clarkesville, GA (November 2, 2021) – On Sunday, October 31, a woman was killed in a fatal rollover accident on a major roadway in Clarkesville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on GA-17 just south of Fred Pitts Road. A 60-year-old man from Gainesville was driving his Ford LGT southbound on the roadway when he lost control. His vehicle went off the side of the road, where it went down a small embankment and overturned.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 51-year-old female was seriously injured in the accident. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have since determined that the driver of the Ford was driving intoxicated at the time of the crash. It is not known what charges have since been brought.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
