Nashville, GA (January 30, 2023) – A child was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place at a Nashville state park on Saturday evening, January 28.

According to Berrien County officials, the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. at Paradise State Park. Police confirmed that a child was riding on the trunk of a car when he fell off due to reasons that are not yet known. He was run over as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Aron Hedman, remained on scene following the accident.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Paramedics and deputies attempted to resuscitate the child, who received severe injuries in the accident. He was taken to the hospital but tragically pronounced dead while there. His age has not yet been revealed.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time following the accident. Police confirmed that the driver will be receiving charges for his role in the accident.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with new information as it is available.
