Statesboro, GA – Fatal Motorcycle Accident at Azalea Dr & S Main St
Statesboro, GA (February 9, 2023) – Around 2:13 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 8, a fatal motorcycle accident took place at an intersection in Statesboro.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Azalea Drive and South Main Street. Police confirmed that a motorcycle was traveling in the area when it was involved in a collision with an SUV. The SUV collided with the motorcycle so forcefully that it flipped over in traffic, causing it to collide with a third vehicle. The accident caused extensive damage to the involved vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the motorcycle sustained the most severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was tragically pronounced deceased while there. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the collision.
The roadway was blocked near the intersection for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
